Cottage/Area Details: Situated in an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", West Milton is a conservation area. Gore Cottage is listed by West Dorset District Council as being "a building of special historic or architectural interest, Grade II". The countryside is ideal for walking and birdwatching. The cottage is stone built with a thatched roof and stands in its own secluded garden.
The sea and Jurassic Coast is about 5 miles away, with a choice of beaches from Burton Bradstock to Seatown, with Weymouth and Lyme Regis being further afield. The harbour of West Bay is the nearest beach and the nearest place for sea fishing.
There are riding and fishing in the area and gardens, such as Mapperton Gardens and the Swannery at Abbotsbury, and fine houses, such as Athelhampton and Forde Abbey, to be visited.
