Cottage/Area Details: Porthleven is an attractive Cornish fishing village; the picturesque, cobbled harbour area is within one minutes level walk. On foot, the extensive beach can be reached in under 5 minutes. The coastal path affords a spectacular walk to the west; to the east a stroll through woodlands beside a freshwater lake - a haven for birdwatchers.
The village has a supermarket, chemist, Post Office, newsagents, fresh fish and pasty shops. Kernow Cottage, though quiet, is close to the centre.
The market town of Helston has a leisure centre, boating pool, Flambards theme park/rollercoasters, Victorian Village and award winning gardens.
Penzance, Falmouth, Truro, St Ives (with Tate Gallery) and the Lizard Peninsula are easily reached. The Eden Project offers an interesting day out.
